Questions and Answers

Where are you from?
I was born in a small town in the West of England, but moved just outside of London, England while I was still a child. Since then I’ve lived in several different cities in the UK – including Nottingham and Liverpool, and have also lived in Geneva, Switzerland, and Virginia, USA. I’m so lucky to have friends all over the world.

How did you get started writing?
I’ve been writing stories ever since I was a child. Back then I used to read series such as “Sweet Valley High” and “Sweet Dreams” and write short stories based on the characters. It’s only recently that I realized I’d been writing fanfiction. As I got into my late teens I think I started writing about twenty different novels, but failed to finish any of them. I took a break during my twenties, and then took up writing again in the past couple of years.

What type of characters are your favorites to write?
I like characters with flaws. I love to read and write stories where the main characters have issues in the past that they are trying to overcome. They aren’t perfect, and they make lots of mistakes, but they develop as people, finding redemption in their growth. That’s so much more interesting to me than reading about perfect characters.

What is your writing process?
I’m a planner in life, and I tend to plan out my stories too. I write out a chapter summary before I start, and usually a timeline so I can envisage where the plot is going. I think of this as the bare bones of a story. To flesh it out I add characters and descriptions, and let things go off on a tangent if the story demands it. When I’m actually writing I tend to hide in my office and sit at my desk there. I tend to write a chapter – usually around 3000 words or so – in one sitting.

What are your upcoming projects?
I am currently editing a Christmas book for Winter 2017 (A Winter’s Tale – the Shakespeare Sisters book 2) and writing the third book in the series, to be released spring 2018.
